Free market research - be alert
Nice simple tip this time. If you are doing any online marketing activity from a press release to blogging, make sure you set up google alerts to help you monitor the coverage. It's simple to do (just put "google alerts" into google and follow the link…) and it is a great way to monitor what is being said about your company or product on the internet. Best of all, it is absolutely free to use.
An email will be sent to you to tell you every time the phrase you want to monitor is found on google. Just be careful how often you set the updates to come and be careful of generic terms as you may be inundated with emails.
As with all marketing, you even need to test your testing but give it a go today if you have not already. As I frequently say, monitoring and evaluation is a critical building block to successful marketing and google alerts is a simple tool to add to your evaluation arsenal. While you are at it, why not keep an eye on your competitors by setting up google alerts on them too…
