One thing at a time...

The world has got hectic to say the least and the marketing world is no different. Everyone is chasing their tail doing too many things at once and trying to communicate numerous product and service messages all in one go. So what do you do about it? Simply STOP (for a minute).

You must remember that your potential clients and customers are just as busy as you are. They are being bombarded with messages from your competitors and the wider world on a minute by minute basis. The only messages that get through are the clear ones so this tip is about not trying to do too much at once.

If you would like a potential customer to interact on social media, visit your website, give you a call and look at the letter you have just sent today, you are being unrealistic. Simply focus on getting them to do one thing at a time. Be clear and tell them what you want them to do. It is called having a "call to action". Think of it as a journey rather than a one off sprint. By having one objective and one alone for each piece of marketing that you do, things will become clearer and more effective.

The moral of the story is this…

You need to stop and look at things from your consumers shoes again. Help them through the confusion by telling them what you want them to do next. Keep it simple, avoid waffle & keep it focused. Too many confusing messages get in the way of each other and people just switch off.
